The ticket site also sells a guided tour ticket and optional extras, such as the "Eternal Sun" show after the museum closes, for a limited time. These have separate prices.

Entry time slots

When you book, you select a date and an entry time slot. The slot is the time when you can go in. It does not limit how long you stay inside.

On 28 October 2026, tickets.gem.eg showed these entry time slots for a visit on 29 October 2026: 08:30–11:00, 11:00–13:00, 13:00–15:00 and 15:00–17:00.

For Saturday 31 October 2026, the site also showed a 17:00–20:00 slot. Wednesday and Saturday have later gallery hours. On these days, look for a later slot. Slots can be different on other days.

Buy tickets only on the official site

Buy your ticket on tickets.gem.eg. The museum says that this is the only official website for its tickets. It is not responsible for tickets that you buy on other websites or from other sellers.

Free admission

These groups of foreign visitors do not pay the admission fee on any day of the week:

  • Children under 6
  • Visitors with disabilities
  • Members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM)

You must show a valid ID to prove that you are in one of these groups. In these groups, a visitor who wants a guided tour pays only the extra cost of the tour. Pay it at the ticket office. Most other free groups are Egyptian groups, such as Egyptian students and tour guides.

You can also use a car or a taxi. The plateau has more than one gate (State Information Service). The travel time depends on the traffic and on the gate that you use.
