The two parts of the cost

A Giza tour has two costs. You pay the tour company for the tour. You also need entry tickets for each site.

  • The tour price. The tour company sets this price. It changes from company to company.
  • The entry tickets. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities sets these prices. They are the same for all visitors of the same type.

Some tours include the entry tickets in the tour price. Other tours do not. Ask before you pay. For the types of tour and their stops, see Pyramids of Giza tours.

Official entry ticket prices

These are the official prices for foreign visitors. You can buy the tickets on egymonuments.com, the official ticket site of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

What changes the tour price

We do not publish tour prices, because each company sets its own price. These items usually change the price that a company asks for:

  • Private or shared. A private tour is for your group only. A shared tour has other visitors in the same group.
  • Length. A half-day tour of the plateau costs less than a full day with a second site.
  • Tickets. The price can include the plateau ticket, the inside tickets, both or neither.
  • Start point. A pickup from a hotel near the plateau needs only a short drive. A pickup from central Cairo or the airport needs a longer drive.
  • Group size. A company can give a price for each person or one price for the group.

Questions to ask before you pay

Ask the tour company these questions. Get the answers in writing.

  1. Is the price for each person or for the full group?
  2. Which entry tickets does the price include?
  3. Does the price include the inside of a pyramid?
  4. Does the price include transport, a licensed guide and lunch?
  5. Does the tour stop at shops, for example a papyrus or perfume shop?
  6. What do I pay at the site, and in which currency?

Questions

Do Giza tour prices include the entry tickets?

Not always. Some tours include the entry tickets and some do not. Ask the tour company which tickets the price includes before you book.

Do children pay to enter the Giza pyramids?

Children under 6 enter the plateau free. The official booking page gives no child price for foreign visitors. It sells only adult and student tickets. Students age 24 or less pay EGP 350 for the plateau ticket. They must show a valid student ID.
