What visitors pay, or can expect to pay, for four common trips in Cairo and Giza. We compared 29 amounts from 14 public price lists, travel guides and traveller posts. We did not ask the apps for quotes.

Method and limits

  • We read public transfer price lists, travel guides and traveller posts on 3 November 2026. We did not ask Uber, Careem or a taxi for a quote. We did not make an estimate.
  • Most Uber, Careem and taxi amounts are estimates in travel guides, not fares that a person paid. We found no public Uber price for these routes. We found no official price list for the airport limousine.
  • We did not use a source that gives an old exchange rate, fares from before 2025, or prices per person in British pounds. One Uber fare was for the trip from downtown to the airport.
  • We changed US dollars at the rate at the top of this page. We changed euros at the European Central Bank reference rate of US$1.1216 on 2 November 2026. The CSV file keeps the original currency.
  • App fares change with the time of day, the traffic and the demand. The distances are road distances without traffic from the OSRM route server.
