What does a Giza tour include? A checklist before you book

What does a Giza tour include? The answer is different at each company. Before you pay, get a written list of what the tour includes. Confirm six things: the entry tickets, the inside entry, the guide, the transport, the shop stops and the final price.

The six things to confirm

Tour offers can say "tickets included" or "all inclusive". These words can mean different things. Ask the company for a written list of these six things:

ItemWhat to askWhy it is important
Entry ticketsWhich tickets are in the price?"Tickets included" can mean only the plateau ticket
Inside entryWhich pyramid can I go inside? Is the ticket in the price? The plateau ticket does not include the inside of a pyramid
GuideWhat is the guide's name? Does the guide stay with us?A driver who takes you to the gate is not a guide
TransportWhere does the car collect us? How do we move between the stops? The plateau is large. The Sphinx is lower down, on the east side
Shop stopsDoes the tour stop at shops? Can we remove the stops?A shop stop takes time from the visit
Final priceIs this the full price? What do I pay on the day?Visitors often report prices that change at the gate

1. Entry tickets

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities sells the Giza tickets. The plateau ticket costs EGP 700 for a foreign adult. A foreign student pays EGP 350.

Ask the company:

  • Is the plateau ticket in the price?
  • Does the company buy the ticket before the day, or at the gate?
  • Do I keep my ticket, or does the guide keep it?

The official site says that tickets are non-refundable. Ask the company what happens to the tickets if you cancel.

For all ticket prices and where to buy tickets, see Pyramids of Giza tickets.

2. Inside entry

The plateau ticket does not include the inside of the pyramids. To go inside, you need a separate ticket for each pyramid:

Inside ticketForeign adult
Inside the Great Pyramid (Khufu)EGP 1,500
Inside the Pyramid of KhafreEGP 280

The inside of the Pyramid of Menkaure is closed to visitors. The pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure open to visitors in turns, for maintenance work. Ask the company which pyramid is open on your date.

"Entry included" in a tour offer can mean the plateau only. If you want to go inside, ask for the name of the pyramid in the written offer.

3. The guide

Ask the company:

  • What is the name of the guide?
  • Is the guide licensed?
  • Which languages does the guide speak?
  • Does the guide stay with us for the full visit, or only at some stops?
  • Is the guide only for our group, or do other visitors join?

For how to check a guide and a company, see Giza pyramids and Sphinx tour with a private guide.

4. Transport

Ask the company:

  • Where and when does the car collect us?
  • Is the car only for our group?
  • How do we move between the pyramids, the viewpoint and the Sphinx?
  • Does the driver wait for us, and where?
  • Does the price include the trip back to our hotel?

5. Shop stops

Visitors report that some tours stop at shops, for example a papyrus, perfume or alabaster shop. Ask the company if the tour has shop stops. If you do not want them, ask the company to write "no shop stops" in the offer.

Camel and horse rides are not shop stops, but they also cost money. Ask the company if a ride is in the price. If it is not in the price, agree the full price with the owner before the ride starts.

6. The final price

Ask the company:

  1. Is the price for each person or for the full group?
  2. Is this the full price? Does the price include all the tickets in the list?
  3. What do I pay on the day, and in which currency?
  4. Is lunch in the price?
  5. Are tips in the price, or do I give them myself?

For the parts of the cost and what changes the price, see Pyramids of Giza tour cost. For tips, see Tipping in Egypt.

If the price changes on the day

Visitors report prices that change at the pyramids. In one report from April 2026, a visitor said that a friend paid a tour price that included tickets. At the pyramids, a different guide asked for more money for the tickets.

If this occurs:

  1. Show the written offer to the guide.
  2. Call the company on the number in the offer.
  3. Do not pay a stranger for a ticket. Buy tickets only from an official seller.

The US Department of State tells tourists to beware of overcharging and scams in tourist areas. To report a scam or another crime, call the tourist police on 126. For other tricks at the pyramids, see Egypt scams at the pyramids.
